Cold Chain Packaging Solutions

At Optimize Courier we partner with a select number of packaging manufacturers to provide a full range high quality validated and pre-qualified cold-chain packaging solutions on a worldwide basis. Part of the assistance we provide to the clinical trial industry is our ability to provide quality packaging for frozen, refrigerated and ambient samples along with the accompanying refrigerant practically anywhere in the world.

Optimize courier can provide packaging solutions for numerous temperature requirements:
-197c, ( -80c to -60c) (-25c to -15c) (+2c to +8c) and (+15c to +25c).

Below is a brief description of the most common cold chain packaging materials used in Biopharm logistic and all available to you through Optimize Courier or directly through the manufacturers.

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) The most widely used and most economical of the packaging solutions is the EPS box. The quality of the insulation is usually commensurate with the thickness of the walls and it is suitable for all shipping temperatures. Perfect for Dry Ice and short range refrigerated shipments.

Polyurethane (PUR) More dense than EPS, PUR packaging offers higher quality insulating value even under extreme temperatures. Also suitable for Dry Ice and refrigerated shipping, PUR is particularly effective when combined with Phase Change Material (PCM) Gel Packs in a validated (tested) pack-out configuration.

Vacuum Insulated Panels (VIP) One of the newest and safest cold chain solutions, VIP packaging provides excellent insulating ability best suited for longer distance shipping and strict temperature sensitive materials such as vaccines and other high value drugs. Although more expensive than EPS and PUR boxes, a VIP box when combined with specific PCM gel packs can maintain products at +2c - +8c for up to 5 days without replenishing the gel packs. The Opti-box handles temperatures -25c to -15c and +15c to +25c and not only +2c to +8c.

Cryoshippers also called Vapor Shippers or Dry Shippers are designed for the safe transportation of biological samples at cryogenic (-150c) temperatures. Fabricated from durable, lightweight aluminum, these dewars contain a hydro-phobic material that absorbs the liquid nitrogen into the walls, while repelling moisture and humidity, assuring the maximum holding time.

RKN containers also known as Pallet Load containers are the solution when you need a lot of space capacity for your temperature controlled shipments. These containers feature active and passive temperature control systems. This means they keep the product temperature stable despite fluctuations in the ambient temperature. The containers are validated for shipping chilled, frozen and controlled room temperature products. They are available in a range of different sizes, suitable for all shipping needs.
